Hebrews 4 calls for a continuation of creation into the 7th day. It is a call to sabbath rest. The phrase, “evening and morning” terminates every other day of creation. Biblical commentators say only 9 of the 10 commandments are re-applied to the church. Commentators say we are no longer required to keep the sabbath. Maybe that is because we are supernaturally placed into the 7th day by way of the new creation. The Lord of the sabbath died mid-week to rescue His dead people from their dead works mode. After He overcame their death He reappears in Jerusalem on a sabbath.

Luke 24:1

CLV ¹ Now in the early depths of one of the sabbaths, they, and certain others together with them, came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they make ready.”  ² Now they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.

The sabbath rest of God is the never ending day Adam failed to reach. Adam had potential eternal life before he fell. Adam fell into disbelief and so he was graciously caused to die prematurely. God didn’t stop Adam from reaching eternal life. god stopped Adam from reaching eternal death. Biological life without spiritual life ends in permanent death.

Young Earth creationists object to any death of plants or animals prior to Adam’s fall. But Adam was placed into a garden which enabled him to live to the age, by eating from the typical tree of life. The typical death of Adam prior to the age was only the result of his expulsion from God’s land. He was banned from the typical tree of life due to his spiritual death. He failed to reign in his millennium. His millennium was about to reign him in. He did not complete his good work and enter into his never ending day. Only Yeshua fulfilled Adam’s incomplete good work. He is the fulfillment tree of life that insured spiritual life to the age for those stuck in the 6th day death of works.

Hebrews 4:1-3

LITV ¹ Then let us fear lest in any way a promise having been left to enter into His rest, that any of you may seem to come short. ² For, indeed, we have had the gospel preached to us, even as they also; but the word did not profit those hearing it, not having been mixed with faith in the ones who heard. ³ For we, the ones believing, enter into the rest, even as He said, “As I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter into My rest,” though the works had come into being from the foundation of the world. Genesis 3:22

YLT ²² And Jehovah God saith, `Lo, the man was as one of Us, as to the knowledge of good and evil; and now, lest he send forth his hand, and have taken also of the tree of life, and eaten, and lived to the age,’ 

The natural progression of humanity is punctuated by miraculous events that are far from scientific. The Holy Spirit hovering over the raw material of creation or the Holy Spirit rebirth and indwelling in humans today will never be part of a scientific model of the evolution of man. It’s not natural. Yet even the fossil record attests to a punctuated creation of species. The record is void of the gradual “missing links” of speciation. The Humanity that supernaturally originated in Adam was fulfilled in eschaton Adam after His non-scientific conception. The resurrection record attests to another sudden new creation by way of the Holy Spirit; the new covenant corporate body of Christ. The never ending church body cannot be scientifically explained by the natural selection and progression of biology. Biology alone is microevolution at best, and is often found de-evolving. New covenant humanity was a new Holy Spirit creation. Actually it was a supernatural continuation. It was an end to the 6th day and an entering into the 7th day creation event. A 7th day betrothal would lead to a 7th day marriage. That marriage is eternal life for the family of God.

Humanity was recreated or reborn in the miraculously unscientific resurrection of Christ. Humanity was resurrected into a 7th day creation event. The Lord of the sabbath took His singularly completed humanity to the new creation.

On Earth the old body of disbelief was destroyed by the Romans in AD 70. I imagine the ruling Angels participated in that Heaven and Earth renewal event. Hebrews chapter 4 is a plea to old creation humanity to enter God’s 7th day creation event by belief. In Hebrews 4, the Word of God is separating humanity from it’s old soul that was covered in temporary animal sacrifice. All are found like Adam; naked in their unbelief. The new covenant high priest offers human clothing in place of the insufficient animal covering that was going away. Clothed in the 7th day of completed humanity, we don’t run for cover like Adam, but rather come boldly to the throne of grace and mercy.

Historically the 6th day of works was terminated in AD 70 after the bride married the new husbandman in a 7th day wedding which typically lasted eight days; from sabbath of groom to sabbath gifted to the bride. Sabbath to sabbath is eight days. Of course the 7th day creation event is not entered into by completing enough good work, lest any man boast. It is the antitypical day of rest. It is the day the new creation begins and the day the new creation is consummated.

Humanity is more like punctuated progressive creationism than imperceptibly slow and natural evolution. In a moment, God’s children are supernaturally born by the Holy Spirit into His never ending seventh day of the new creation. The seven festivals completed the progression. We are born into a fully functional human family not an evolving one. It will never be one of the scientific models of natural creation, even though the fossil record itself attests to sudden rather than gradual speciation.

We all go through our phase of naked awareness prior to being born again. At least in somewhat humanized societies we do. Adam and Eve also became acutely aware of their nakedly immature condition. As the federal head of humanity, Adam failed to make his stand in the name of Yahweh. He became destined to complete his age spiritually dead in animal skin. The eschaton Adam did take a stand in the name of Yahweh. He then entered the garden and decided to die in obedience, to reverse Adam’s curse of spiritual death. Adam was kicked out of the garden because he would have typically lived to the age of 1000. His relocation is what caused his premature typical death. There was no curse of death placed on plants and animals that caused Adam to die. In fact Adam’s premature death was a blessing. Banning access to the typical tree of life saved Adam from making his death permanent.

Only eschaton Adam could spiritually die and be resurrected into a new 7th day of creation, in order to rescue old creation humanity. That work was done by Him between the sabbaths. We call it His Passion Week. By way of a new betrothal covenant, He took His humanity to the age of permanent marriage spiritually alive. Born again into the 7th day on Pentecost meant they wouldn’t die under works before the 7th day wedding. Today the family of God is fully in the never-ending day of creation.

All betrothals and weddings are new legal creations. How much more the Holy Spirit creation that legally brought the church into the new covenant? Today we are born from above into the never-ending family of Yahweh. The church family is already in the never ending day. “And there was evening and morning; day six.” Day six is his-story. But it didn’t end there.
