Jews For Jesus – Unto The End Of The Earth
… ye shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem … and to the uttermost [contiguous] part of the land.
Acts 1:8
YLT 8 but ye shall receive power at the coming of the Holy Spirit upon you, and ye shall be witnesses to me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and unto the end of the earth.’
The 5 W’s: Who, What, Where, When, Why
Who? “Ye” is plural for the Jewish apostles Jesus chose.
What? The salvation of the Jews, which is the good news that went to all nations.
Where? Starting in Jerusalem, the good news spread to the edges* of the land.
When? The Pentecost that enabled the chosen Jews to work with Jesus in His new covenant occurred around 33 AD.
Why? Witnesses* to the old covenant death of their Messiah and His new covenant resurrection.
That enabling Pentecost was 10 days after Jesus’ ascension. The Holy Spirit – as promised by Jesus to the Jews in Jerusalem – enabled faithful witnesses, even unto death, which is where we get our word martyr. Most or all of these faithful Jews were killed for being in their new covenant rather than staying in their old covenant. The Holy Spirit was sent from heaven to the Jews in Jerusalem by their Messiah, 50 days after He was raised as the new creation First Fruit. The new yeast for the first fruit of wheat harvest came from The First Fruit of the barley harvest. Jesus the Jewish Messiah sent His new covenant breath to the old covenant diaspora, gathered in Jerusalem for Pentecost. Peter fearlessly preached to all of Israel on his first day in Jesus’ new covenant resurrection – Acts 2:36. Jesus sacrificed His old covenant life so His people could join Him in His new covenant life, otherwise everyone but Him would have perished under law – Romans 8:1-4, said Benjamite Paul, who became a martyr for his undying faith in the Jewish Messiah.
Acts 21:11 ESV [A prophet from Judea prophecies concerning Paul – Joel 2:28-29, Acts 2:17] … “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘This is how the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’”
Acts 21:13 ESV Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
