Would Adam have lived forever if he didn’t fall? Would eschaton Adam have lived forever if He didn’t take Adam’s fall? Would Jesus still be on earth today in the same biological body 2000 plus years old? At what age would He have stopped aging? Aging can’t be bad because Jesus Himself aged as the eschaton Adam. How old would first Adam appear today if he didn’t fall?

Literally an age has a definite duration, but Vine’s Expository Dictionary Of The New Testament tells us we can’t take age literally.

Vine’s G165 – aion: The phrases containing this word should not be rendered literally, but consistently with the sense of indefinite duration. Thus eis ton aiona does not mean “unto the age” but “forever” (see, e.g., Hebrews 5:6).

Vine’s argument is that since Hebrews 5:6 must mean “eternal”,  due to it’s association with Melchisedek,  then so does every other phrase where the word “age” appears.

Hebrews 5:6 (This letter is addressed to the Hebrews by the way) YLT 6 as also in another place He saith, `Thou art a priest—to the age, according to the order of Melchisedek;’

Hebrews 5:6 KJV 6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedek.

Other people change the Bible because to them Melchisedek can’t be eternal. “He is without father or mother or genealogy; he has neither beginning of days nor end of life . . . he continues a priest forever.”  That bothered some people so much that they reject the writing addressed to the Hebrews and change the writing in Genesis 11.  They changed the ages of the patriarchs by removing one hundred years from six patriarchs and 50 years from a seventh in order to try to give Melchisedek a genealogy.

‘Jews’ today teach that Shem is Melchisedek. But, in order for Shem to meet up with Abraham, 650 years were removed from the record. The Greek Septuagint, the Samaritan Pentateuch, and Flavius Josephus all retain the 650 years. Which has Shem’s death 500 years before Abraham is even born, hence he can’t meet Abraham as Melchisedek. Ages matter. Yeshua retains no legal genealogy after His Old Covenant death and resurrection [like Melchisedek, God and His angels(watchers)]. And since Yeshua was resurrected (reborn) by the Spirit, without legal genealogy, into a new covenant (as firstborn of the new humanity), then like first Adam, He doesn’t have to be from the tribe of Levi to be a priest.

What’s wrong with Yeshua being a priest to the age in the order of Melchisedek? It leaves the old flesh and blood mode behind. It means the New Covenant completes the Old Covenant age in spiritual life rather than in the death. No Old Covenant priest was ever able to overcome the death and reconstitute the fallen age. And just because Yeshua is able to take the Hebrews into the new age (alive) doesn’t mean He quits being high priest after arriving. In fact Yeshua can’t even be a priest in the Old Covenant.

Eternal life is only accomplished for us in the New Covenant. The Holy Spirit was sent to grant life to the Jews first, but He wasn’t sent until the genetically Jewish Lamb of God ascended to the true temple in heaven as the final flesh sacrifice. Every other priest sacrificed for himself first then for others. Eschaton Adam sacrificed Himself for others, but not as high priest yet. Life to the age is only in the priesthood of Christ, but He wasn’t a priest until after His resurrection.

Hebrews 7:27 YLT who hath no necessity daily, as the chief priests, first for his own sins to offer up sacrifice, then for those of the people; for this he did once, having offered up himself;

After His resurrection, He re-entered His non-corrupted final sacrifice as proof that He did indeed overcome their O.C. death. He was the lone living sacrifice of the New Covenant until Pentecost. He already sacrificed His Old Covenant life, but He did not take the final sacrifice to the true temple in heaven in the order of Melchizedek yet. He put the O.C. human to death in the typical priesthood covenant. He had yet to sacrifice His Jewish genetics as the first-fruit offering of the New Covenant creation. He would arrive to the most holy place in heaven as high priest without genealogy.

It was in the order of Melchizedek that He sent the Holy Spirit to the Jews, not in the fading glory of Judah or Levi genes. The new order high priest took His place in heaven as New Covenant chief before He made Israel spiritual. After Yeshua was re-birthed by the Holy Spirit, He spent 40 days in the land and ten days in heaven, then the Holy Spirit began to indwell other living sacrifices in the priestly order of Melchizedek. The spiritual nation of Israel was born on Pentecost.

Romans 11:33-36 YLT 33 O depth of riches, and wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable His judgments, and untraceable His ways! 34 for who did know the mind of the Lord? or who did become His counsellor? 35 or who did first give to Him, and it shall be given back to him again? 36 because of Him, and through Him, and to Him are the all things; to Him is the glory—to the ages. Amen. 12:1 I call upon you, therefore, brethren, through the compassions of God, to present your bodies a sacrifice—living, sanctified, acceptable to God—your intelligent service;

Jacob (James) writes to the 12 tribes in the diaspora and urges them to rescue those under law and cover a multitude of transgressions. The Hebrews could indeed save one of their own souls from the the death and the destruction of the Gehenna fire. Losing one’s salvation was a real threat to those Yeshua came to save. He came to save His own people first. If they insisted on staying in their genetic priesthood mode, then they would indeed stay in the first death and go to the second death, which was permanent. They would lose their salvation.

Hebrews 7:15-17 YLT 15 And it is yet more abundantly most evident, if according to the similitude of Melchizedek there doth arise another priest, 16 who came not according to the law of a fleshly command, but according to the power of an endless life, 17 for He doth testify—`Thou art a priest—to the age, according to the order of Melchizedek;’

It’s the power of an endless life that enables the living-completion of the age. Adam was not allowed to complete the age because he spiritually died and stayed spiritually dead.

The tree of life typically sustained biological life for Adam not spiritual life.

The Old Covenant was typical and Adam was a type of Christ. Romans 5:14 …Adam was a type of Him who was to come. Eschaton Adam came to teleos humanity’s 1000 years, says Revelation chapter 20. It says it three times. Is it just coincidence that Yeshua took 70 years to do what He came to do? Did His rescue mission have anything to do with Adam and Israel? One was His fallen individual and the other was His fallen nation. He not only came to save both the individual and the corporate body of humanity, but to continue the great commission given to Adam and Israel; that is to humanize people from all national bodies. After Israel received Holy Spirit life, the Holy Spirit secondly went to the Gentile nations. God’s people continue to come from all nationalities even today, by the same Holy Spirit.

Acts 10:11-16 ECB  11 and he observes the heavens open; and a vessel descends on him as a mega linen bound at the four beginnings, and lowers to the earth: } 12 wherein are all quadrepeds of the earth and beasts and creepers and flyers of the heavens: 13 and so be it, a voice to him, Rise, Petros! Sacrifice, and eat! 14 But Petros says, No way, Adonay; for I never ever ate aught profane or impure. 15 And a second voice to him, What Elohim purifies, you profane not! 16 And this becomes thrice: and the vessel is taken again into the heavens.

James 3:7 (Jacob to the 12 tribes in diaspora) ECB 7 For every nature, both of beasts and of flyers, both of creepers and of those in the sea, is tamed – and has been tamed by human nature:

Acts 15:21 CLV For Moses, from ancient generations, city by city, has those who are heralding him, being read on every sabbath in the synagogues.”

Hebrews 7:28 CLV 28 For the law is appointing men chief priests who have infirmity, yet the word sworn in the oath which is after the law, appoints the Son, perfected, for the eon.”

After the law, the oath constitutes the Son having been matured into the age (“having been matured” is teleos).

Jesus married the church and made her eternal when He reached the age of 70. From the time of His birth into the body of Adam until the marriage was 70 years. It’s as if Eschaton Adam rescued and completed humanity for both Adam and Israel. Imagine that. And the second exodus began when he was 30 years old. Jesus’ ministry began to set people free when He was 30 and He completed the regeneration of the nation when He was 70. The first exodus also took 40 years to regenerate Israel. Just as two people from that generation were still alive when the first Exodus was fulfilled, some would still be alive when the second Exodus was fulfilled.

Matthew 16:28 YLT Verily I say to you, there are certain of those standing here who shall not taste of death till they may see the Son of Man coming in his reign.

Adam would have lived to the age of his thousand year reign if he hadn’t been banned from the tree of life. Concordant Literal Version – Genesis 3:22b And now, lest he stretch forth his hand, moreover, and take of the tree of the living, and eat and live for the eon–! Most translations render this last word, “forever”, but it is more accurately translated, “to the age”. Their concept of resurrection and forever hadn’t developed yet. We read our eschatology back into it when we say forever. The typical tree of life in the garden only gave biological longevity on earth. It didn’t give spiritual life to Adam. That is why Adam was banned from it. It would have allowed him to live to the age in spiritual death. Adam needed spiritual salvation before he lived to the age. Premature death at 930 years of age put his judgement on hold until esachaton Adam came to take his place. Only eschaton Adam could save original Adam from permanent death, i.e., judgement to second death.

Jesus alone would have completed Adam’s age and Israel’s age alive, if He wouldn’t have agreed to take Adam’s place, in order to become the spiritual tree of life for His people. He granted the Holy Spirit to the sons of Adam on Pentecost after He took their death on the tree. Galatians 3:13 Berean Literal Bible – Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it has been written: “Cursed is everyone hanging on a tree”—

Death has no power unless the law of death is enacted. Yeshua enacted the curse upon Himself by hanging on a tree. Adam enacted it upon himself by disobedience to the only law of the garden; the law of death itself. He ate what hung on the tree of spiritual death; a non-spiritual eye opener.

The typical tree of life would have kept Adam physically alive to the age of 1000. He spiritually died the day he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and he biologically died in his 1000-year day. A day is as 1000 years to God we like to say. Yeshua is the spiritual tree of life that reversed the curse for Adam by taking spiritual death on the tree and overcoming the death of Adam. Yeshua became the antitypical tree of life. Jesus was raised under the knowledge of good and evil and it didn’t spiritually kill Him. In fact the Holy Spirit joined Him at full maturity under law. On the antitypical dual tree, the best good and the worst evil met and their firstborn death was covered. It was the fulfillment passover sacrifice to save the firstborn. Eschaton Adam applied His own blood to the post and lintel for the old house of Israel. He then called on His followers to pick up their post and leave the firstborn death behind. They had to lose their old soul because he was dead and dying.

It is by grace that @ 70 years is our average lifespan today. We are on this side of the transition of covenants. Adam had to suffer a lot longer than we do. Yeshua suffered a lot more than anybody ever will, even though He made a quick work of it. Hallelujah praise Yeshua. We don’t have to rule in the millennium. He and His first century followers did it for us.

Yeshua nailed the Old Covenant law to the tree. The New Covenant testator will never die. The law of death has been abolished. The death of flesh and blood mode enacted the spiritual law of life on Yeshua. The O.C. death couldn’t keep Him and a N.C. death doesn’t threaten Him.

Colossians 2:10-15 (the operation of God is not a typical flesh circumcision) CLV  10 And you are complete in Him, Who is the Head of every sovereignty and authority, 11 in Whom you were circumcised also with a circumcision not made by hands, in the stripping off of the body of flesh in the circumcision of Christ.” 12 Being entombed together with Him in baptism, in Whom you were roused together also through faith in the operation of God, 13 Who raised Him out of the dead ones, you also being dead to the offenses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He vivifies us together jointly with Him, dealing graciously with all our offenses, 14 erasing the handwriting of the decrees against us, which was hostile to us, and has taken it away out of the midst, nailing it to the cross, 15 stripping off the sovereignties and authorities, with boldness He makes a show of them, triumphing over them in it.”

1 Corinthians 15:42-58 42 Thus also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is roused in incorruption. 43 It is sown in dishonor; it is roused in glory. It is sown in infirmity; it is roused in power. 44 It is sown a soulish body; it is roused a spiritual body. 45 If there is a soulish body, there is a spiritual also. Thus it is written also, The proto-human, Adam, became a living soul: the eschaton Adam a life-giving Spirit. 46 But the spiritual was not first, but the soulish, thereafter came the spiritual. 47 The first human was out of the land, soilish; the second Human is the Lord out of heaven. 48 Such as the soilish one is, such are those also who are soilish, and such as the Celestial One, such are those also who are celestials. 49 And just as we are wearing the image of the soilish one, we shall also be wearing the image of the Celestial one. 50 Now this I am saying brethren, that flesh and blood is not able to enjoy an allotment (to tenant) in the kingdom of God, neither is corruption enjoying the allotment (tenanting) of incorruption. 51 Be perceptive, I am telling you a mystery! We shall not all sleep, yet we shall all be changed, 52 in an instant, in the twinkle of an eye, at the last trump. For He will be trumpeting, and the dead will be roused incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal put on immortality. 54 Now, whenever this corruptible should be putting on incorruption and this mortal should be putting on immortality, then shall come to pass the word which is written, Swallowed up was the death by conquest. 55 Where, O Death, is your victory? Where, O Death, is your sting? 56 Now the sting of Death is sin, yet the power of sin is the law. 57 Now thanks be to God, Who is giving us the conquest, through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 So then, my beloved brethren, become settled, unmovable, superabounding in the work of the Lord always, being aware that your toil is not for nothing in the Lord.

The eonian life of eschaton Adam was laid down and taken up for you. As son of the human, only Yeshua had eonian life. Everyone else was still in eonian death and headed for a dead fulfillment which is second death. They couldn’t escape the curse of the law, which is the death of Adam.

Jesus gave up His spiritual life in the Old Covenant so He could head up a New Covenant in which one could not miss the mark. There is no law of death now. All who are given eternal life are secure in the non-genetic family of Yahweh. We have a new body of humanity in the order of Melchizedek. The body of Moses was given life to the age in the body of Christ. The indwelling Holy Spirit fulfills the image of God in people.

Yeshua assured His Jewish believers that they would complete the old age with the Holy Spirit.

John 14:16-17 CLV 16 And I shall be asking the Father, and He will be giving you another consoler, that it, indeed, may be with you for the eon -” 17 the spirit of truth, which the world can not get, for it is not beholding it, neither is knowing it. Yet you know it, for it is remaining with you and will be in you.”

1 Corinthians 15:21-22 ECB 21 For since through humanity, death, also through humanity, the resurrection of the dead. 22 For exactly as in Adam all die, even thus in the Messiah all enliven:

Revelation 1:10 – I was in the Spirit on the day of the Lord, and I heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, saying,

I take the Lord’s day here to be a 24-hour day. Yeshua called Himself Lord of the Sabbath. But the day of the Lord was also at hand – meaning final judgement for those under works of law. So John was seeing the culmination of the thousand year day of Adam and Israel – by the Lord of the sabbath. It was good for those who could see and bad for those who wouldn’t see until it was too late. There eyes would be opened by the second death of Adam/Old Covenant humanity.

Even though they were circumcised in the flesh many were not circumcised in their heart by the Holy Spirit, so they stuck their head in the sand. They wanted to stay married to the typical land. But they were in the transition from the old to the new as unveiled through Hebrew symbolism – to John.

Revelation 1:1 KJV – The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John. 4 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. YLT 7 Lo, he doth come with the clouds, and see him shall every eye, even those who did pierce him, and wail because of him shall all the tribes of the land. Yes! Amen! 9 I, John, who also am your brother, and fellow-partner in the tribulation, and in the reign and endurance, of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, because of the word of God, and because of the testimony of Jesus Christ; 17 And when I saw him, I did fall at his feet as dead, and he placed his right hand upon me, saying to me, Be not afraid; I am the First and the Last, 18 and he who is living, and I did become dead, and, lo, I am living to the ages of the ages. Amen! and I have the keys of the hades and of the death. 19 Write the things that thou hast seen, and the things that are, and the things that are about to come after these things;

2 Peter 3:10 – But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with rushing sound, and having burned – the elements will be loosed, and land and the works in it will be burned up.

1 Thessalonians 5:4 – LITV But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that the Day should overtake you as a thief.

A thief in the night is unseen and when your eyes are finally opened it is too late.

John 9:4-7 – I must work the works of him who sent me while it is day: the night comes when no one can work. 5 Whenever I am in the system, I am the light of the system. 6 Saying these, he spits on the ground and makes clay from the spit; and he supplies the eyes of the blind with the clay; 7 and says to him, Go, wash in the pool of Shiloach, – which translates, Apostolized. So he goes his way and washes and comes seeing:

Yeshua came to open the eyes of His people and give the old cosmos spiritual life.

Luke 21:34-36 CLV  34 Now take heed to yourselves, lest at some time your hearts should be burdened with crapulence and drunkenness and the worries of life’s affairs, and that day may be standing by you unawares, 35 as a trap, for it will intrude on all those sitting on the surface of the entire land. 36 Now be vigilant, on every occasion beseeching that you may be prevailing to escape all these things which are about to occur, and to stand in front of the Son of Mankind.

Colossians 1:22-23 CLV 22 by His body of flesh, through His death, to present you holy and flawless and unimpeachable in His sight, 23 since surely you are persisting in the faith, grounded and settled and are not being removed from the expectation of the evangel which you hear which is being heralded in the entire creation which is under heaven of which I, Paul, became the dispenser.

1 Peter 2:5-9 ECB 5 and you yourselves, as living stones, are built a spiritual house – a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices, well-received to Elohim through Yah Shua Messiah. 6 So it is also contained in the scripture, Behold, I place in Siyon a chief corner stone, select, honorable: and whoever trusts on him never no way shames. Isaiah 28:16 7 So to you who trust, he is precious: but to them who distrust, the stone the builders disapproved this one became the head of the corner, 8 and a stone of stumbling and a rock of scandal to them who stumble at the word – who distrust: to which also they were set. 9 But you are a select genos, a sovereign priesthood, a holy goyim, a peculiar acquisition to himself; to evangelize the exultation of him who called you from darkness into his marvellous light:

Jude 1:25 to the only wise Elohim our Savior be glory and majesty, power and authority, both now and to all ages. Amen.

A book is meant to be read from beginning to end. But is best understood from end to beginning. “The End” in the Revelation is where the prince marries His bride and they both live happily ever after in His Father’s kingdom; into the ages of the ages.

The New Heaven and Earth

1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them,

9… “Come here, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

The New Jerusalem

10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,

The fulfillment of the New Creation Revelation portrays  the marriage of Heaven and Earth. An angel shows John a dazzling bride that symbolizes the new creation. On the cross she was released from the Old Covenant side of the eschaton man. The new marriage covenant forever joins God and His covenant people because the New Covenant man will never die. God announces that He’s come to live with humanity into the age by renewing His covenant creation. Heaven and earth are made new in the covenant of His Son. Yes, the Heaven we will indwell is part of His creation. The newly created  Jerusalem is kept in Heaven incorruptible. It extends from Heaven to join all of His creation; in Heaven and on Earth, in the one body of Christ. God forever indwells His Covenant people with His Holy Spirit, both in Heaven and on Earth. Earth is obviously the place of new borns.

2 Corinthians 5:17 So anyone in Messiah, new creation: the originals (archaics) have passed. Behold, all things have become new.

2 CORINTHIANS 4:16-17 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eonian glory that far outweighs them all.

We are not trying to live a thousand years on Earth. Jesus came to rescue and complete Adam, not start him over to day one. We didn’t get restored to the typical tree of life in order to live 1000 years in the flesh. Yeshua the Messiah took us into the age of eternal life already. He is the eonian glory. He sent the Holy Spirit to give eonian life to His people.

2 Corinthians 4:14-16 KJV 14 Knowing that He (the Holy spirit) which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. 15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

In Christ we are spiritually living – flesh sacrifices. We don’t go to Hades like Yeshua did. He overcame the Old Covenant spiritual death so the gates of the place of the dead wouldn’t prevail against His people anymore. Before Christ, the gates of Hades were always shut. Now the gates of Heaven are always open. We don’t have to be kept out or locked in. Yeshua came for freedom. When we leave our flesh body we go to Heaven, but our body doesn’t go to Hades either. We who are in the body of Christ leave Earth spiritually alive, like Yeshua did. As living sacrifices, our flesh is burned up outside the city gates of Heaven. Aging and decaying (@70 average lifespan) is our flesh-mode burn-out prior to entering Heaven and getting a heavenly body.

God created the old Heaven and the heavenly beings before He created Earth. He didn’t create heavenly beings with earthly bodies. Earthly bodies are made for Earth and are less glorious than heavenly bodies. Yeshua ascended to prepare a place in Heaven for humans to live in their heavenly bodies. He went to prepare a new heavenly creation for humanity.

1 Corinthians 15:40-50 CLV 40 There are bodies celestial as well as bodies terrestrial. But a different glory, indeed, is that of the celestial, yet a different that of the terrestrial, 41 another glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars, for star is excelling star in glory.” 42 Thus also is the resurrection of the dead. Thus it is written also, The first man, Adam, “became a living soul: the last Adam a vivifying Spirit.” 46 But not first the spiritual, but the soulish, thereupon the spiritual.” 47 The first man was out of the earth, soilish; the second Man is the Lord out of heaven.” 48 Such as the soilish one is, such are those also who are soilish, and such as the Celestial One, such are those also who are celestials.” 49 And according as we wear the image of the soilish, we should be wearing the image also of the Celestial.” 50 Now this I am averring, brethren, that flesh and blood is not able to enjoy an allotment in the kingdom of God, neither is corruption enjoying the allotment of incorruption.”

The already but not yet version of you:

Romans 8:9-10 CLV 9 Yet you are not in flesh, but in spirit, if so be that God’s spirit is making its home in you. Now if anyone has not Christ’s spirit, this one is not His.” 10 Now if Christ is in you, the body, indeed, is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is life because of righteousness.”

He will give life to our mortal bodies but it is not the flesh we are living for. Living bodies in heaven are not in the earthly flesh mode.

In acts chapter two, Peter told the Jews to be saved from that corrupt generation (a typical re-generation takes 40 years) and as many as believed were. And the gospel spread among the Jews only.

Acts 11:19 YLT 19 Those, indeed, therefore, having been scattered abroad, from the tribulation that came after Stephen, went through unto Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to none except to Jews only;

Acts 2 YLT 1 And in the day of the Pentecost being fulfilled, they were all with one accord at the same place, 2 and there came suddenly out of the heaven a sound as of a bearing violent breath, and it filled all the house where they were sitting, 3 and there appeared to them divided tongues, as it were of fire; it sat also upon each one of them, 4 and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, according as the Spirit was giving them to declare. 5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation of those under the heaven, 6 and the rumour of this having come, the multitude came together, and was confounded, because they were each one hearing them speaking in his proper dialect, 7 and they were all amazed, and did wonder, saying one unto another, `Lo, are not all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 and how do we hear, each in our proper dialect, in which we were born? 9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those dwelling in Mesopotamia, in Judea also, and Cappadocia, Pontus, and Asia, 10 Phrygia also, and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya, that arealong Cyrene, and the strangers of Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretes and Arabians, we did hear them speaking in our tongues the great things of God.’ 12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one unto another, `What would this wish to be?’ 13 and others mocking said, —`They are full of sweet wine;’ 14 and Peter having stood up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and declared to them, `Men, Jews! and all those dwelling in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and harken to my sayings, 15 for these are not drunken, as ye take it up, for it is the third hour of the day. 16 `But this is that which hath been spoken through the prophet Joel: 17 And it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; 18 and also upon My men-servants, and upon My maid-servants, in those days, I will pour out of My Spirit, and they shall prophesy; 19 and I will give wonders in the heaven above, and signs upon the earth beneath—blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke, 20 the sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the day of the Lord—the great and illustrious; 21 and it shall be, every one—whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, he shall be saved. 22 `Men, Israelites! hear these words, Jesus the Nazarene, a man approved of God among you by mighty works, and wonders, and signs, that God did through him in the midst of you, according as also ye yourselves have known; 23 this one, by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, being given out, having taken by lawless hands, having crucified—ye did slay; 24 whom God did raise up, having loosed the pains of the death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it, 25  for David saith in regard to him: I foresaw the Lord always before me—because He is on my right hand—that I may not be moved; 26 because of this was my heart cheered, and my tongue was glad, and yet—my flesh also shall rest on hope, 27 because Thou wilt not leave my soul to hades, nor wilt Thou give Thy Kind One to see corruption; 28 Thou didst make known to me ways of life, Thou shalt fill me with joy with Thy countenance. 29 `Men, brethren! it is permitted to speak with freedom unto you concerning the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is among us unto this day; 30 a prophet, therefore, being, and knowing that with an oath God did swear to him, out of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, to raise up the Christ, to sit upon his throne, 31 having foreseen, he did speak concerning the rising again of the Christ, that his soul was not left to hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. 32 `This Jesus did God raise up, of which we are all witnesses; 33 at the right hand then of God having been exalted—also the promise of the Holy Spirit having received from the Father—he was shedding forth this, which now ye see and hear; 34 for David did not go up to the heavens, and he saith himself: The Lord saith to my lord, Sit thou at my right hand, 35 till I make thy foes thy footstool; 36 assuredly, therefore, let all the house of Israel know, that both Lord and Christ did God make him—this Jesus whom ye did crucify.’ 37 And having heard, they were pricked to the heart; they say also to Peter, and to the rest of the apostles, `What shall we do, men, brethren?’ 38 and Peter said unto them, `Reform, and be baptized each of you on the name of Jesus Christ, to remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, 39 for to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.’ 40 Also with many more other words he was testifying and exhorting, saying, `Be saved from this perverse generation;‘ 41 then those, indeed, who did gladly receive his word were baptized, and there were added on that day, as it were, three thousand souls, 42 and they were continuing stedfastly in the teaching of the apostles, and the fellowship, and the breaking of the bread, and the prayers. 43 And fear came on every soul, many wonders also and signs were being done through the apostles, 44 and all those believing were at the same place, and had all things common, 45 and the possessions and the goods they were selling, and were parting them to all, according as any one had need. 46 Daily also continuing with one accord in the temple, breaking also at every house bread, they were partaking of food in gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God, and having favour with all the people, and the Lord was adding those being saved every day to the assembly.
