Was Jesus in Time? Is Jesus still in Time?

That God is essentially outside of time is well believed, if not well understood. God the creator created time for His creation. Time is where I presently live and as far as I know where I will always presently live. In the beginning God said, “let us make Adam (humanity) in our image”. He was speaking within His creation, to His creation, about His highest creation, that was about to be formed. God was participating in the time He made with His creatures. He made and was still making His creations. “In the beginning” is a time indicator within creation. Humanity was formed on day six. Jesus grew up as the completely true human and was baptized into day seven.

Light was made on day one. On day three land and grain appeared. The time indicators that God placed in the sky were made (or revealed) on day four. Even the Magi who came from the East knew of the time of the messiah by God’s calendar as it was unveiled in the sky. They knew that Jesus had been born in time.

Jesus was cut off in the middle of the week and then resurrected into the third day. The third day in creation is when the land and the grain from the land first appeared. Jesus was resurrected as first fruit of the new land in the third day. Of course the third day from the middle of the week crucifixion is the seventh day of the week. As first fruit of the new creation His old covenant work was done.

The second third day event of the new creation was when His disciples joined Him in the resurrection as the first fruit of the wheat harvest. The second third day in Genesis is when humanity was formed. Third day events were typically numerous. Abraham figuratively received Isaac back from the dead on the third day and Jonah came back from the dead on the third day.

Jonah was sacrificed as a disobedient prophet who was causing too much of a storm. He was thrown into the sea to save the people on board from drowning. The passengers asked God not to let his innocent blood be on their hands as they threw him under the bus. Jonah was resurrected onto the dry land of his enemies on the third day. Then he began his three day journey of preaching across the width of the great city. All the humans and beasts of that great city repented and were saved from their impending destruction. It was the second third day resurrection in the Jonah narrative Jesus compared His resurrection to Jonah’s. Pentecost is the second third day event of Jesus’ resurrection. All this to say that biblical patterns involving time are undeniable, even if sometimes the patterns are reversed in time.

Leviticus 23:5

LITV 5 In the first month, on the fourteenth of the month, between the evenings is the Passover to Jehovah.

There are some ubiquitous time indicators with reference to the sun and the moon, like morning, noon and night. In Hebrew the morrow is the morning or the daylight portion which begins in the morning, when the daylight begins. So the morrow begins in the morning not the next 24 hour day. The next day actually started at dusk. Morrow can mean morning or all of the daylight portion of the day. At nightfall we may say, “Let’s do it tomorrow it’s getting dark and I can’t see”. We don’t mean from midnight to midnight tomorrow. We mean the daylight hours of the morrow.

Biblically there are also two meanings for evening: one is high noon when the sun is neither rising nor setting and the other is our more familiar one, when the sun gets even with the horizon.

Then there is the biblical lunar calendar. The moon marks the beginning and ending of the month. The first sighting of moonlight marked the beginning of the moonth and the full moon was always in the middle of the month. But the astronomers from the East (magi) knew even more time indicators than these obvious ones. They knew that Jesus was born at just the right time. They knew this by even more involved astronomical studies, involving the appearance of other celestial bodies, other than just the moon and the sun. Daniel may have been one of the best Magi in His day who told the Babylonian and Persian kings of the true religion as written in the celestial bodies.

We know that Daniel was given a 490 year prophecy based on their lunar calendar because the tribe of Judah would be back in the land observing the seven festivals. The prophecy came from a heavenly messenger in answer to his prayer. Daniel was told the time of Jesus ministry, death and resurrection. He was also told the time when the old covenant era of sacrifices would end and the city would be destroyed. Jesus Himself prophesied the destruction of the city and the temple in His generation. He claimed to be the savior of that Jewish soul destruction.

Daniel 9:21-27

CLV 21 even while I am speaking in my prayer, behold, the man Gabriel, whom I saw in the vision at the start, flying swiftly, is touching me at the time of the evening approach present.”

Which evening? I would say Daniel was praying and sacrificing in broad daylight. Gabriel probably arrived before nightfall. It was the death angel that came at midnight for failure to claim the passover lamb. Nightfall would be the next day and it was too late by then. According to Leviticus 23:5, the passover lamb had to be sacrificed between the evenings, i.e. before the next day. Sacrifices weren’t made or cooked when it got dark. Eating was allowed all night but not working.

Jesus was sacrificed around 3PM, between the two evenings of 12 and 6. We have messed up the biblical time indicator called the evening, just as we have the biblical time indicator called the morrow. Jesus was not sacrificed at night, which would be the next day. And He was not resurrected the day after the sabbath, which would be the first day rather than the seventh day. He was resurrected on the morrow of the sabbath. His work week of redemption was done.

Today when we read “the evening sacrifice” we automatically think of the time of dusk rather than from noon to dusk. The sun starts setting at noon. The passover sacrifices started in the full light of day and had to be over before six, just to stay on the right day, but especially when the next day was a great sabbath wherein no work was allowed.

22 And he is approaching and speaking with me, saying, “Daniel, now I fare forth to give you an intelligent understanding.” 23 At the start of your supplications a word from Yahweh fared forth, and I come to tell you, for a man of coveted qualities are you. “Then understand what is in the word and understand what is in the sight.”

Gabriel is a created being and is therefore bound to present time. He flew quickly to speak to Daniel. He didn’t enter a wormhole and avoid the time involved to get there. He made haste. Creatures from heaven speak as if they are part of God’s time bound creation. Time isn’t just one of the laws of our physics. It is a law of heavenly creation too.

24 Seventy sevens are segregated for your people and for your holy city: To detain transgression, to cause sin to end, to make a propitiatory shelter for depravity; to bring the righteousness of the eons, to seal the vision and the prophet, to anoint the holy of holies.”

490 years (times) has already been applied to the holy city once. This is the second 490 years God’s people had in the land. The second 490 accomplished all of verse 24.

25 And you shall know and be intelligent: From the faring forth of the word to cause a return and to rebuild Jerusalem–from then till Messiah the Governor is seven sevens, and sixty-two sevens. It will return and will be rebuilt, square and salient, even in eras of constraint.” 26 After the sixty-two sevens, Messiah will be cut off, and there is no adjudication for Him.

Unlike Leviticus 23:11, Daniel 9 Verse 26 actually has the Hebrew word for “after” in it.

After – אחר – ‘achar – akh-ar’
generally used as an adverb or conjugation, after

Some people say Jesus was crucified in the 69th year rather than after the 69th year as Daniel says. After the 69th year would be some time during the 70th year, just like after the 7th day is some time in the 1st day. They add the word after where it doesn’t appear in the text because they know this to be the case. If they know that after the 7th day is in the first day then they should also know that after the 69th week is in the 70th week. But the Hebrew word for after is nowhere to be found in Leviticus 23:11,15 or 16. If timing doesn’t matter to people then why is after added to Leviticus 23 and ignored in Daniel 9? People twist the time indicators when they don’t line up with their preconceived ideas.

Leviticus 23:11

YLT 11 then he hath waved the sheaf before Jehovah for your acceptance; on the morrow of the sabbath doth the priest wave it.

Leviticus 23:15-16

CLV 15 You will count off for yourselves from the morrow after [after shouldn’t be added here] the first sabbath, from the day you bring the sheaf of the wave offering: there shall be seven flawless sabbaths. 16 Until the morrow after [after shouldn’t be added here] the seventh sabbath you shall count off fifty days; then you will bring near an approach present of new grain to Yahweh.

The city and the holy place shall be laid in ruins with the other governor’s coming; then its end is by an overflow, and till the end of the war desolations will be decided.” 27 Then he will be master of a covenant with many for one seven: At half of the seven, he will cause to cease the sacrifice and the approach present; on a wing of the sanctuary shall be desolating abominations. Till the conclusion of the era the decided conclusion will be poured forth on the desolation.”

Was Jerusalem laid ruins? Didn’t Jesus tell Peter to keep forgiving his old covenant brethren 490 times? Doesn’t times also mean years to first century Jews just like it did to Daniel? Weren’t the Jews forgiven by God once a year 490 more times?

Is Jesus still in time? “Before Abraham was, I am”, was said by a present tense person speaking as if He had no beginning or ending. The One without beginning or ending entered time to save His people from destruction. He only saved them once.

John 3:14-21

YLT 14 `And as Moses did lift up the serpent in the wilderness, so it behoveth the Son of Man to be lifted up, 15 that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during, 16 for God did so love the world, that His Son—the only begotten—He gave, that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during. 17 For God did not send His Son to the world that he may judge the world, but that the world may be saved through him; 18 he who is believing in him is not judged, but he who is not believing hath been judged already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 `And this is the judgment, that the light hath come to the world, and men did love the darkness rather than the light, for their works were evil; 20 for every one who is doing wicked things hateth the light, and doth not come unto the light, that his works may not be detected; 21 but he who is doing the truth doth come to the light, that his works may be manifested, that in God they are having been wrought.’

Jesus rescued His humanity in time. Adam lacked 70 years and Israel was approaching their second 490 years before time was up. Those whose souls were destroyed in the Gehenna of old Jerusalem lost their salvation.

Matthew 18:21-22

ECB 21
THE PARABLE ON FORGIVENESS
Then Petros comes to him, saying, Adonay, how often sins my brother to me, and I forgive him? Until seven times? 22 Yah Shua words to him, I word not to you, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Revelation 22:11

YLT 11 he who is unrighteous—let him be unrighteous still, and he who is filthy—let him be filthy still, and he who is righteous—let him be declared righteous still, and he who is sanctified—let him be sanctified still:

Matthew 10:28

YLT 28 `And be not afraid of those killing the body, and are not able to kill the soul, but fear rather Him who is able both soul and body to destroy in gehenna.

Their soul was Adamic. It had to become Christian to save it from destruction.

Mark 8:31-40

ECB 31
YAH SHUA PROPHESIES HIS DEATH AND RESURRECTION
And he begins to doctrinate them that the Son of humanity must suffer much; and be disapproved of the elders and of the archpriests and scribes; and be slaughtered and after [meta means “within” not “after“] three days rise: 32 and he speaks that word boldly. – and Petros takes him and begins to rebuke him. 33 But he turns around and sees his disciples and he rebukes Petros, wording, Get behind me, Satan: for you mind not those of Elohim, but those of humanity. 34
LOSING THE SOUL TO SAVE THE SOUL
And he calls the multitude with his disciples and says to them, Whoever comes after me denies himself and takes his stake and follows me. 35 For whoever wills to save his soul, loses it; but whoever loses his soul because of me and the evangelism, saves it. 36 For what is a human benefited whenever he gains the whole cosmos and loses his own soul? 37 Or what gives a human in exchange for his soul? 38 Whoever indeed shames of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also the Son of humanity shames when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

James 1:8 – Jacob to the diaspora

YLT 8 a two-souled man is unstable in all his ways.

1 Peter 1:1-5 – Peter to the born again chosen of the diaspora

LITV 1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the elect sojourners of the dispersion of Pontus, of Galatia, of Cappadocia, of Asia, and of Bithynia, 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit to obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, He according to His great mercy having regenerated us to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and unfading, having been kept in Heaven for you 5 by the power of God, having been guarded through faith to a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time;

Romans 5:12-19

ECB 12 THE ORIGIN OF SIN So, exactly as through one human, sin entered into the cosmos, and death through sin, and thus death passed to all humanity – for all sinned: 13 for until the torah, sin was in the cosmos: but there being no torah, sin reckoned not. 14 Rather death reigned from Adam to Mosheh, even over them who sinned not after the likeness of the transgression of Adam – who is the type of the one about to be. 15
JUSTIFICATION AND LIFE THROUGH YAH SHUA MESSIAH
But not as the downfall, thus also the charisma. For if through the downfall of one many die, much more the charism of Elohim and the gratuity in charism of one human, Yah Shua Messiah superabounds to many. 16 And not as through one who sinned, thus the gratuity: for the judgment indeed was by one to condemnation, but the charisma is of many downfalls to justification. 17 For if by the downfall of one death reigns through one; much more they who take a superabundance of charism and of the gratuity of justness reign in life through one, Yah Shua Messiah. 18 Thus as through one downfall all humanity is unto condemnation; even thus through one justification all humanity is unto justification of life. 19 For exactly as through the disobedience of one human many were seated sinners, thus through the obedience of one many are seated just.

1 Corinthians 15:19-26

ECB 19 If in this life only we have hope in Messiah, we are least mercied of all humanity. 20
THE SEQUENCE OF THE RESURRECTION
And now, Messiah rose from the dead and became the firstlings of them who slept. 21 For since through humanity, death, also through humanity, the resurrection of the dead. 22 For exactly as in Adam all die, even thus in the Messiah all enliven: 23 and each in his own order: Messiah the firstlings; then whoever are of the Messiah at his parousia. 24 Then the completion/shalom when he delivers the sovereigndom to Elohim – even the Father; when he inactivates all hierarchies and all authority and dynamis. 25 For he must reign, until whenever he puts all enemies under his feet. 26 The final enemy to inactivate is death. [Last enemy now being abolished is the death]

1 Corinthians 15:45-58

ECB 45 And thus it is scribed, The first human Adam became into a living soul; the final Adam into an enlivening spirit. 46 Rather the spiritual is not first; but the soulical – and then the spiritual. 47 The first human is dust from the earth; the second human is Adonay from the heavens. 48 Such as the dust, such also those of dust: and such as the heavenlies, such also those of the heavenlies. 49 And exactly as we bear the icon of the dust we also bear the icon of the heavenlies. 50 And this I say brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the sovereigndom of Elohim; corruptibility inherits not incorruptibility. 51
THE MYSTERY OF THE RESURRECTION
Behold, I word you a mystery; indeed, we all sleep not, and we all change; 52 in a moment – in the atom of an eye – in the final trumpet: for indeed it trumps; and the dead rise incorruptible and we all change. 53 For this corruptible must endue athanasia; and this mortal must endue immortality. 54 So when this corruptible endues incorruptibility and this mortal endues athanasia – then becomes the word that is scribed, Death is swallowed in triumph. Isaiah 25:8 55 O death, where is your sting? O hades/sheol, where is your triumph? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the dynamis of sin is the torah. 57 And to Elohim – charism to him who gives us the triumph through our Adonay Yah Shua Messiah. 58 So my beloved brothers, become grounded; unmoveable; always superabounding in the work of Adonay knowing that your labor in Adonay is not in vain.

Matthew 16:28

ECB 28 Amen! I word to you, Some standing here never no way taste death until they see the Son of humanity coming in his sovereigndom.

Mark 9:1

LITV 1 And He said to them, Truly I say to you, There are some of those standing here who in no way shall taste of death until they see the kingdom of God coming in power.

Matthew 23:30-39

LITV 30 And you say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. 31 So you witness to yourselves that you are the sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 And you fill up the measure of your fathers. 33 Serpents! Offspring of vipers! How shall you escape the judgment of Hell? 34 Because of this, behold, I send to you prophets and wise ones and scribes. And some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and will persecute from city to city; 35 so that should come on you all the righteous blood poured out on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Berechiah whom you murdered between the Holy Place and the altar. 36 Truly I say to you, All these things will come on this generation. 37 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one killing the prophets and stoning those sent to her. How often I desired to gather your children in the way a bird gathers her chicks under her wings! And you did not desire it. 38 Behold, “your house is left to you desolate.” Jer. 22:5 39 For I say to you, In no way shall you see Me from now on, until you say, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.” Psa. 118:26

There was only one way to see Jesus after He was crucified and that was to believe in Him. One of the objections to the New Testament account of Jesus’ resurrection is that He appeared only to believers. Paul being a chosen exception.

Ananias, Sapphira and Herod were exceptions in their biological deaths. They out-souled when they died. The typical way to express physical death was to expire or out-spirit, sometimes translated, breathed his last or exhaled his last breath. Sleep was also a way to express a Physical death indicating a future awakening or a resurrection from that death. But, these three may have committed the unpardonable sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Herod’s fate was not only expressed as “out-souled”, it was portentous of Gehenna where the worm never dies. Gehenna is where soul and body were both destroyed by the One to fear.
