Time Never Ends – Some People Do

Some fallen angels were destined to die like men in the end. That did not end time. It ended their existence in time. God’s created time went on. Time was never destined to end. The age of fallen humanity was. The thousand-year age of humanity in Adam was graciously put on hold in Sheol so he and those in him wouldn’t die like men at the end of their age. Adam’s dead and dying condition as a fallen man was put to repose at 930 years of age, until the 70-year resurrection of humanity arrived in Christ. Otherwise, all men were destined to die. Adam’s death at 1000 would have ended him had he been allowed to live to the age before the resurrection of humanity occurred. He would have merely died like a man.

God’s creation always exists in the now. Even the creation of Sheol was within time. It was the time-out place of ‘the death’, but time itself continued. Sheol’s purpose timed out and ceased to exist when covenant death ceased to exist. The temporary time-out place for the death of humanity was never designed to be eternal. Sheol was a place of repose that was only created to delay the millennial judgement on humanity. The final death of the dead and dying became known as the second death of old covenant humanity. Covenant death and Sheol were both destroyed at the same time. Nobody needs redeemed from old covenant death today because nobody is in the old covenant.

Revelation 20:14

ECB 14
THE SENTENCE OF DEATH AND HADES/SHEOL
And death and Hades/Sheol are cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

The word eternity is first attested in 1st century BC. It was used by Cicero who spoke Latin. Cicero only applied his Latin word for eternity to God. In the Bible, God is described as before, beyond or outside of time. Eternity in God’s creation means never-ending time. Eternity actually exists within the creation as all of time. It is all-time. That something lasts for all of eternity (redundant) means it lives forever within the time that is always present tense: the time that God created is always now. In the 4th century, the Greek word for eternity came into being. It was more properly applied to humans rather than to God. Eternity didn’t become a Greek word until several hundred years after God entered His creation through His Son.

Jesus overcame the tree of old covenant death after He died the old covenant death. His resurrection from the death of Adam on the tree restored access to the tree of life. Adam was banned from the typical tree of life lest he live to the age of 1000 in his fallen state. Jesus took Adam’s place in that death. Jesus fulfilled all the types, even the tree of life. Jesus as the antitypical tree of life granted spiritual life to His fallen people. Nobody in Adam could spiritually stand under the Torah’s knowledge of good and evil, except the eschatos Adam. The Torah became the national knowledge of good and evil that only Christ could fulfill. He did it in the old covenant as a single man.

Genesis 3:22-23

CLV 22 And saying is Yahweh Elohim, “Behold! The human becomes as one of us, knowing good and evil. And now, lest he stretch forth his hand, moreover, and take of the tree of the living, and eat and live for the eon–! 23 And Yahweh Elohim is sending him away from the garden of Eden to serve the ground whence he is taken.

To see the word eternity (forever) in the Bible is always an anachronism. Neither the Hebrew word olam nor the Greek Word aion ever meant eternity. The word aion has connotations of life, time, lifetime, generation and completion. The telos of the aion or the olam resulted in eternal life for those in Christ, just as the concept of eternity was coming into the human consciousness.

Biblically, God was said to be before, beyond or outside the aion. God might be said to live with us in eternity now; now that His creation has been made eternal. He became a man and died like a man in order to telos the aion and to bring humans to the horizon of His divinity in a new creation. But the age itself was not made eternal until Jesus. The age aimed at the goal of eternity before eternity even became a conceptualized word. Everyone was bound to miss the mark at the telos of the age until Jesus resurrected humanity into His about-to-be eternalized new creation. The new creation is now ageless, in that it won’t age out. The new creation arrived to the age of all the ages, alive in Christ.

Micah 4:7 – forever

WEB 7 and I will make that which was lame a remnant, and that which was cast far off a strong nation: and Yahweh will reign over them on Mount Zion from then on, even forever.”

Micah 4:7 – to the age

CLV 7 And I make her that is limping a remnant, and her that is beyond the border a staunch nation. And Yahweh shall reign over them in mount Zion, henceforth and unto the eon.”

Luke 1:33

YLT 33 and he shall reign over the house of Jacob to the ages; and of his reign there shall be no end.’

There was more than one age that Jesus was bringing to its telos. The age of Adam was put on hold at 930 and the age of Israel was restarted after 70 years. Both ages were about to culminate with a 1000-year jubilee. Jesus fulfilled the typological jubilee. The reign of Christ is now never-ending. The 1000-year age of the ages of both Adam and Israel arrived alive in Christ. He reined them in to the age of 1000. His post-millennial reign never ends. He retroactively reined in the millennials.

Did time run out for the old covenant hold outs or did time itself cease to exist in the now?

Revelation 10:6

YLT 5 and night shall not be there, and they have no need of a lamp and light of a sun, because the Lord God doth give them light, and they shall reign—to the ages of the ages.

The completion of our lifetime is an average of 70 years. If we are born again then we reign in our age in the eternal life of Christ. The God/Man made humanity eternal before we invented a word for it.
