The gods Shall Perish like Old Covenant Humans

Jeremiah 10:11

LITV 11 So you shall say to them, The gods who have not made the heavens and the earth, they shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens.

This is the only verse in Jeremiah written in Aramaic. Why would Jeremiah instruct his people to respond to their captors in Aramaic, unless they were to be exiled into an Aramaic-speaking land? “Thus you shall say”. The “you” of this clause refers to the Jews to whom Jeremiah is speaking (10:1). “to them”: them refers to the Babylonians: the very people the Jews were to live among in exile (8:19; 10:17-18). Jeremiah is in effect saying, So you, the Jews, shall say to the Babylonians … a greater judgment is coming.

Jeremiah wrote to the Jerusalem that was about to be destroyed by the Babylonian army, but this was not the end of the old covenant covenant yet. Jerusalem would be rebuilt when the 70 years were fulfilled. The Jews in exile were to tell their captors that the false gods of all the nations would perish like the humans in a coming judgment. The Jews were being judged by Babylon for worshipping false gods. The Jews would be judged for worshipping false gods again, but next time by Rome, at the end of their old covenant. Jesus told Nicodemus how to escape from perishing to the age in John 3:16.

Some of Jesus’ last old covenant words were also in Aramaic. On the cross, He took the place of the Jewish judgment, to rescue them from their final old testament exile. Jesus was being exiled in their place. He was from the tribe of Judah. He spoke to His Father in Aramaic as He departed His old covenant land.

The Jews were about to be exiled a second time, by all the nations, with no promise to return after 70 years were fulfilled. Jesus took their exile from the land, before they were finally removed from the old covenant. Jesus gave them His resurrected covenant life to save them from perishing. The Hebrews, who had gathered out of the nations for Pentecost, were granted covenant life as the new creation. People from all the nations would gather to destroy the Jerusalem still in the flesh. Jews still in the flesh remained in their old covenant land until AD70. The second 70 years of unkept sabbaticals and Adam’s unfinished day were both fulfilled by Jesus prior to the AD70 judgement. Flesh and blood did not inherit new covenant life in the Kingdom of Yahweh. Born again Jews did.

Ironically, the false god of the Roman kingdom headed up the charge to gather the nations in judgment of old covenant Jerusalem and all things old creation. Those who didn’t follow Jesus out prior to AD70, would suffer the fate of Babylon, because the unbelievers had become Babylon. Worse than Babylon, unbelievers not only removed the Jewish believers from the land, but were seeking to destroy God’s chosen people not in the land.

All the nations would surround and destroy Jerusalem in the end. The one true God released the Satan to do His will. The adversary gathered all the false god nations against the old covenant hold-outs. The adversary was released at the end of the age. After the 20th Jubilee, fire came down from heaven and devoured them. “them” refers to the old covenant rebellion as a whole. Who else would it be if it was a just judgment? Wrath came upon the old creation rebellion. There is no new creation fall. New Jerusalem is kept incorruptible. The unbelievers are kept outside the gates.

The final judgment on Jerusalem was the second death of Jerusalem. In diaspora, the Jews had already taken their one true God to all the nations, before Jerusalem fulfilled typical Babylon in judgment. Like Babylon, Old covenant Jerusalem sought to destroy God’s chosen people. In a twist of fate, Jerusalem was finally destroyed by all the nations. The devil (and all the false gods of all the nations) were also destroyed as part of the old creation rebellion. The gods died like old covenant humanity.

The old covenant hold-outs were the sons of a false god (the devil), according to Jesus. Jesus Himself turned down the devil’s offer to rule with a false god. The unfaithful Jews however did rule the land with the devil. Jesus said so. The Jews, who were sons of the devil, would perish to the age. The Jews who became the sons of God by being born from above would live to the age, with Jesus (John 3:16). All born again Jews became God’s sons. Salvation was not offered to the demons or to the false gods. The devil offered a false salvation to the unbelievers in the land, as attested to by the second destruction of Jerusalem. The devil they followed did not save them after all. He personally brought destruction to them. Old covenant hold outs rejected God’s salvation and embraced the devil’s ‘salvation’.

Too many people today still think the adversarial government can save them. All the tyrannical rule-keeping is leading to our destruction as a nation. We still put our faith in flesh and blood. Many nations have ended this way. Only the principles of true humanity can keep a nation alive and well. Humanity is not politically correct. It was the political correctness of the self serving cabal that got Jerusalem in the flesh destroyed.

Psalms 82:1

Thomson 1 A Psalm by Asaph. GOD standeth in the assembly of gods and in the midst he judgeth gods.

Psalms 82:6-8

YLT 6 I—I have said, `Gods ye are, And sons of the Most High—all of you, 7 But as man ye die, and as one of the heads ye fall, 8 Rise, O God, judge the earth, For Thou hast inheritance among all the nations!

In AD70 God judged the land and inherited all the nations by way of His only begotten and resurrected Son.

Revelation 6:10-11

YLT 10 and they were crying with a great voice, saying, `Till when, O Master, the Holy and the True, dost Thou not judge and take vengeance of our blood from those dwelling upon the land?’ 11 and there was given to each one white robes, and it was said to them that they may rest themselves yet a little time, till may be fulfilled also their fellow-servants and their brethren, who are about to be killed—even as they.

Who are the gods whom the New Testament calls “principalities and powers in heavenly places” (Ephesians 3:10)? God is about to pronounce judgment on them, because they are not using their authority over the nations to judge rightly. In verse 3 of Psalm 82 God is instructing the whole assembly of the gods.

Psalms 82:1 (NIV)

God presides in the great assembly; he renders judgment among the “gods”:

Psalms 82:3-4

CLV 3 Redress the poor and the orphan; To the humbled and destitute grant justice. 4 Deliver the poor and the needy; From the hand of the wicked, give rescue.”

After the instruction comes the indictment. Condemnation from God comes to the gods who refuse to do right, which is what Jesus quotes to the Jews. The Jews, who were about to murder Jesus for claiming to be at one with the true God, will die along with their false gods, unless they repent. Jesus did not come to rescue the fallen gods. He came to rescue the fallen Jews. Jesus quotes Psalm 82:6 to them. Their false gods were going to die with their old covenant humanity, even as the true Jews inherit immortality. Jesus as the one true Son of God would head up new covenant humanity with the faithful Jews. Israel was God’s nation. The unfaithful Jews would die with their unfaithful gods (unfaithful sons). The true Jews lived on.

The Complete Jewish Bible

Psalm 82:6-7

6 “My decree is: ‘You are elohim [gods, judges], sons of the Most High all of you. 7 Nevertheless, you will die like mortals [k’âdâm = as adam] ; like any prince [head], you will fall.'”

In other words, even though you claim a very exalted status alongside the false gods — principalities, powers, angels — you’re going to come crashing down just like all human rulers come crashing down when they abuse their authority.

John 8:44

You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

1 John 3:10 CEV

You can tell God’s children from the devil’s children, because those who belong to the devil refuse to do right or to love each other.

The eternal children of God are followers of Jesus Christ. The short-lived children of the devil were hating God’s children. The Jewish unbelievers hated their faithful brethren. Paul promised relief to the true Jews.

2 Thessalonians 1:7-8

LITV 7 and to give you, those being troubled, relief with us at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from Heaven with angels of His power, 8 in flaming fire giving full vengeance to those not knowing God, and to those not obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, Isa. 66:15; Jer. 10:25

Romans 2:25-29, Gentiles were actually joining the body of true Jews and would even stand in judgment over the unfaithful Jews, at the judgment day. How could believers from the nations be counted as the true Jews who were about to inherit God’s promises to Israel, while natural-born Jews who refuse to leave the old covenant land are judged and perish along with their gods. People of foreign languages surrounded Jerusalem just prior to the destruction. Jesus spoke the foreign language of Babylon as some of His last words from the old covenant cross. Those who rejected His substitutionary exile from the land faced destruction at the hands of foreign speaking invaders.

John 8:40-45 New American Standard Bible – NASB 1995 (NASB1995)

But as it is, you are seeking to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do. You are doing the deeds of your father.” They said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father: God.” Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me. Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word. You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me.

Jeremiah 31:31-34 English Standard Version

The New Covenant

31 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah32 not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. 33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” Read full chapter

Who joined the resurrection of the Messiah as firstfruit of the new covenant if not the house of Israel who had gathered out of the nations for Pentecost? Who was finally destroyed by the nations if not the Jews still in the flesh who had rejected the Holy Spirit? Will old covenant Jews be born-again-again when they gather again on a future Pentecost? Will the Jews receive another new covenant and have the law written on their hearts again by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven to Jerusalem again? Will old covenant flesh and blood Jerusalem be destroyed for a third time? will flesh and blood inherit the kingdom in a future scenario?

Are we still waiting for the fulfillment of Jerusalem’s 20th Jubilee? Was the last half of the 70th week of Daniel put on hold for a future Jewish generation that will be resurrected to be judged for doing worse things than the first century unbelievers did?

The flesh and blood national body was resurrected twice: once during the 40 year wilderness wondering and once again after the 70 year exile. The second resurrection in the flesh wasn’t very successful and it obviously ended in destruction. The second national resurrection did not include the 12 tribes like their Holy Spirit resurrection did on Pentecost did. Those in the first Holy Spirit resurrection lived on. Those in the second flesh and blood resurrection perished. The second resurrection never got off the ground.

Romans 8:11-13

YLT 11 and if the Spirit of Him who did raise up Jesus out of the dead doth dwell in you, He who did raise up the Christ out of the dead shall quicken also your dying bodies, through His Spirit dwelling in you. 12 So, then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh; 13 for if according to the flesh ye do live, ye are about to die; and if, by the Spirit, the deeds of the body ye put to death, ye shall live;

John 3:5-6

YLT 5 Jesus answered, `Verily, verily, I say to thee, If any one may not be born of water, and the Spirit, he is not able to enter into the reign of God; 6 that which hath been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which hath been born of the Spirit is spirit.

Nicodemus couldn’t understand how he could be born out of water from his mother for the second time. His mind only comprehended a flesh and blood body. His body was too big to enter back into his mother and be born again. Those who do see the Holy Spirit rebirth never die.

John 11:25-26

YLT 25 Jesus said to her, `I am the rising again, and the life; he who is believing in me, even if he may die, shall live; 26 and every one who is living and believing in me shall not die—to the age;

Galatians 4:6 Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”

Romans 8:14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Galatians 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,

All early sources interpret “sons of God” in Genesis chapter 6 as angels or watchers, from the 3rd century BC to the 2nd century AD. The same can be said for Job 1:6 and 2:1. Correlation is found in 2 Peter 2 and Jude. Other interpretations don’t appear until the 2nd century AD.

Genesis 6:1-7 – The gods corrupt humanity

CLV 1 And coming is it that humanity starts to be multitudinous on the surface of the ground, and daughters are born to them. 2 And seeing are sons of the elohim the daughters of the human, that they are good, and taking are they for themselves wives of all whom they choose. 3 And saying is Yahweh Elohim, “Not abide shall My spirit in the human for the eon, in that moreover, he is flesh. And come shall his days to be a hundred and twenty years. 4 Now the distinguished come to be in the earth in those days, and, moreover, afterward, coming are those who are sons of the elohim to the daughters of the human, and they bear for them. They are the masters, who are from the eon, mortals with the name. 5 And seeing is Yahweh Elohim that much is the evil of humanity in the earth, and every form of the devices of its heart is but evil all its days. 6 And regretting is Yahweh Elohim that He made humanity on the earth, and grieving to His heart. 7 And saying is Yahweh Elohim, “Wipe will I the humanity, which I have created, off the surface of the ground, from human unto beast, and unto the moving animal, and unto the flyer of the heavens, for I regret that I have made them.

Job 1:6 – The adversary served God

CLV 6 There was a day when the sons of Elohim would come to station themselves before Yahweh, and [the] Satan came also in their midst.

Job 2:1

CLV 1 The day came around again when the sons of Elohim came to station themselves before Yahweh, and Satan came also in their midst to station himself before Yahweh.

2 Peter 2

CLV 1 Yet there came to be false prophets also among the people, as among you also there will be false teachers who will be smuggling in destructive sects, even disowning the Owner Who buys them, bringing on themselves swift destruction.” 2 And many will be following out their wantonness, because of whom the glory of the truth will be calumniated, 3 and in greed, with suave words, they will traffic in you, whose judgment of old is not idling, and their destruction is not nodding [sleeping].” 4 For if God spares not sinning messengers, but thrusting them into the gloomy caverns of Tartarus, gives them up to be kept for chastening judging;” 5 and spares not the ancient world, but guards Noah, an eighth, a herald of righteousness, bringing a deluge on the world of the irreverent;” 6 and condemns the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, reducing them to cinders by an overthrow, having placed them as an example for those about to be irreverent:” 7 and rescues the just man, Lot, harried by the behavior of the dissolute in their wantonness” 8 (for the just man dwelling among them, in observing and hearing from day to day, tormented his just soul by their lawless acts), 9 the Lord is acquainted with the rescue of the devout out of trial, yet is keeping the unjust for chastening in the day of judging, 10 yet specially those going after the flesh in defiling lust and despising lordship. Audacious, given to self-gratification, they are not trembling when calumniating glories, 11 where messengers, being greater in strength and power, are not bringing against them a calumniating judging before the Lord.” 12 Now these, as irrational animals, born naturally for capture and corruption, calumniating that in which they are ignorant in their corruption, also shall be corrupted, ” 13 being requited with the wages of injustice. Deeming gratification by day a luxury, they are spots and flaws, luxuriating in their love feasts, carousing together with you, 14 having the distended eyes of an adulteress, and that do not stop from sin, luring unstable souls, having a heart exercised by greed, children of a curse.” 15 Leaving the straight path, they were led astray, following out the path of Balaam of Beor, who loves the wages of injustice, 16 yet was exposed for his own outlawry. A voiceless yoke-beast, uttering with a human voice, forbids the insanity of the prophet.” 17 These are waterless springs, and mists driven by a storm, for whom the gloom of darkness has been kept.” 18 For, uttering pompous vanity, they are luring by the lusts of the flesh, in wantonness, those who are scarcely fleeing from those who are behaving with deception;” 19 promising them freedom, they are inherently slaves of corruption; for by whom anyone is discomfited, to this one he has been enslaved also.” 20 For if, while fleeing from the defilements of the world by the recognition of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, yet, being again involved in these, they are being discomfited, their last state has become worse than the first.” 21 For it were better for them not to have recognized the way of righteousness, than, recognizing it, to go back to what was behind, from the holy precept given over to them.” 22 Now that in the true proverb has befallen them: “A cur turning to its own vomit, and “A bathed sow to her wallowing in the mire.”

Jude 1

CLV 1 Judas, a slave of Jesus Christ, yet a brother of James [Jacob], to those who are called, beloved in God the Father, and kept by Jesus Christ:” 2 May mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you! 3 Beloved, giving all diligence to be writing to you concerning our common salvation and life, I have had the necessity to write to you, entreating you to be contending for the faith once given over to the saints.” 4 For some men slip in who long ago have been written beforehand for this judgment; irreverent, bartering the grace of our God for wantonness, and disowning our only Owner and Lord, Jesus Christ.” 5 Now I am intending to remind you, you who once are aware of all, that the Lord, when saving the people out of the land of Egypt, secondly destroys those who believe not.” 6 Besides, messengers who keep not their own sovereignty, but leave their own habitation, He has kept in imperceptible bonds under gloom for the judging of the great day.” 7 As Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities about them in like manner to these committing ultra-prostitution, and coming away after other flesh, are lying before us, a specimen, experiencing the justice of fire eonian.” 8 Howbeit, these dreamers also, likewise are indeed defiling the flesh, yet are repudiating lordship and calumniating glories.” 9 Now when Michael, the chief messenger, doubting the Adversary, argued concerning the body of Moses, he dares not bring on a calumniating judging, but said, 10 May the Lord rebuke you!Yet these indeed are calumniating whatever they are not acquainted with, yet in whatever they are naturally adept, as the irrational animals, in these things they are being corrupted.” 11 Woe to them! for they went in the way of Cain, and in the deception of Balaam’s wages were they poured out, and in the contradiction of Korah they perished.” 12 These are the reefs in your love feasts, carousing with you fearlessly, shepherding themselves; waterless clouds carried aside by winds; trees that are sear, unfruitful, twice dying, uprooted;” 13 wild billows of the sea, frothing forth their own shame; straying stars, for whom the gloom of darkness has been kept for an eon.” 14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesies to these also, saying, “Lo! the Lord came among ten thousand of His saints, 15 to do judging against all, and to expose all the irreverent concerning all their irreverent acts in which they are irreverent, and concerning all the hard words which irreverent sinners speak against Him.” 16 These are murmurers, complainers, going according to their desires, and their mouth is speaking pompous things, marveling at the aspect of things, on behalf of benefit.” 17 Yet you, beloved, remember the declarations which have been declared before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, 18 that they said to you, In the last time will be coming scoffers, going according to their own irreverent desires.” 19 These are those who isolate themselves, soulish, not having the spirit.” 20 Now you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in holy spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, anticipating the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for life eonian.” 22 And to those, indeed, who are doubting, be merciful, 23 yet others be saving, snatching them out of the fire, yet to others be merciful with fear, hating even the tunic spotted by the flesh.” 24 Now to Him Who is able to guard you from tripping, and to stand you flawless in sight of His glory, in exultation, 25 to the only God, our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, might and authority before the entire eon, now, as well as for all the eons. Amen!”
