40 years in the wilderness was a typical new generation. A new body was formed in the wilderness as the old body was put to death. Adam himself was formed outside the land that God prepared for him. After the Jews were exiled the first time, 70 make up years were required. 70 years were 30 years more than a new generation. 70 years was for not faithfully fulfilling the sabbaths for 490 years. Both 40 and 70 became old covenant reformation numbers. Both were required and supplied by God due to the unbelief of the nation in Adam.

Adam himself was still on hold after the national half time. The nation resumed counting when 70 faithful years were fulfilled by God. It was mid-millennium when the Jewish nation was repaired. Jesus would be born a Jew to take the place of Adam. He took his place mid-week. It was in the middle of the nation’s last week of weeks when the Messiah was cut off from the old covenant. His 70 years however were all counted. He required no pauses or repairs or make up years. His Holy Spirit reformation of the nation started in the old covenant when He was about 30 years old.

Because of the cross, the old covenant count to the millennial Jubilee of the nation was put on hold. Only Jesus would have arrived alive at 37 years of age had He not died mid-week at 33 1/2 years of age. Jesus fulfilled both 40 and 70 years. His 70 faithful years and His 40 regeneration years were all moved into His new covenant, for His people not for Himself. Only the old covenant was put on hold at the cross. Jesus kept counting His years in the new covenant. At 70 years of age Jesus’ humanity granted eternal life to His people. They all arrived alive because of His faithfulness. He started healing the nation by the power of the Holy Spirit when He was 30. The healing was complete when He was 70. Both 70 years of faithfulness and 40 years of reformation were supplied by God’s only begotten Son.

Because of unfaithfulness, God had graciously caused Adam to die prematurely at 930 years of age. Adam’s age was put on a 70 year hold until Jesus arrived to take his place. God’s 70 half time years did not fulfill Adam’s age. Because of unfaithfulness, God had already required 40 years to pass before a new generation of Israel could enter the land the first time. Because of more unfaithfulness, God provided 70 sabbatical years before the sabbath breaking Jews could reenter the land. Both 40 and 70 became the national repair years needed to carry His broken covenant through for Israel not for Adam. It took 40 years to reform the unfaithful body, so the nation of Israel could enter the promised land for the first time. 70 years fulfilled the missed sabbaticals, so a new body of Jews could enter the land for the second time.

At the national half time, Adam was still waiting. Typical aids only continued the national count. Typical years did not redeem either Adam or the nation. That would require the resurrection of Christ. Adam could have lived to 1000 spiritually dead. Israel did live to 1000 in the flesh. Flesh and blood could not inherit the kingdom individually or nationally. The only one the Holy Spirit remained on was eschatos Adam. He alone could overcome both: the death of Adam and the nation.

Corresponding to the 40 days that the spies toured the land, God required the fearful Israelites to wander in the wilderness for 40 years. The old unfaithful body was being put to death while the new body was being raised. The first generation of Israelites was too afraid to take the land. The re-generation would enter the land with Yeshua, by God’s gracious rebirth of His nation. Yeshua (Joshua) represented the faithful witness who could have entered the typical land without the rebirth of the whole nation. Yeshua (Jesus) endured their death for the sake of the nation. He sent the Holy Spirit to Jerusalem to grant His Holy Spirit empowered life to the nation before the millennium of Israel and Adam was fulfilled.

Jesus “breathed on them [the fearful disciples locked in the room] and said to them: ‘Receive the Holy Spirit’” (John 20:22). This proleptic display was fulfilled on Pentecost when they were celebrating the flesh and blood birth of the nation. The Holy Spirit breath on the day of Jesus’ resurrection was prophetic. The same Holy Spirit that resurrected Jesus from the dead arrived and remained on the disciples 50 days later. They were already in the dark. Jesus suffered their darkness when His old covenant flesh was nailed to the cross. After Pentecost the true Jews were like Jesus, no longer in the flesh. Luke 24:49 Amplified Bible (AMP)Listen carefully: I am sending the Promise of My Father [the Holy Spirit] upon you; but you are to remain in the city [of Jerusalem] until you are clothed (fully equipped) with power from on high.” 40 days after He told them to receive the Holy Spirit He told them to remain in Jerusalem (10 more days) until they did.

Corresponding to the 70 years that the Jews failed to keep sabbaticals, God decreed that the Jews would not be allowed to reenter the land, until 70 years of sabbath keeping was fulfilled by God Himself. Their expulsion from the land was the result of their lack of faith in God to provide food for them during the non-planting years. The Israelites eventually decided to work the land even during sabbaticals, for 490 years of their occupation. In time, the unfaithful sabbatical years overtook the faithful years. Evidently the 12 tribes were able to rest during some of their appointed sabbaticals. And evidently God did provide lawful food for them to eat when they trusted Him. Millennial half-time was called due to the accumulation of unfaithful years. Before they could continue counting their second 490 years of not resting with God during their appointed sabbaticals, they had to be caught up. Like Adam, the Israelites didn’t trust God to provide all the food they needed. They thought they knew better. They would rather eat the unsanctioned (illegal, forbidden by law) food that they disobediently tended to (the forbidden fruit), rather than rest in God’s providence. Like Adam, they knew better.

Kings: Saul, David, Solomon and Jesus — each ruled for 40 years. That is no coincidence. Forty years is considered a generation in the Bible. A new group of Israelites is born and raised to be the covenant body ruling in the typical land. From Jesus’ baptism to His 70th birthday was not 40 years by chance. Jesus ruled in the old covenant land for 3 1/2 years. Even His 3 1/2 years of old covenant occupation was not typical for Yeshua. All 40 years of Jesus’ 40 year rule was by way of the Holy Spirit enablement. Jesus reigned as King for 40 years to fulfill the typical millennial reign for Israel. He ministered in the power of the Spirit for all 40 years.

The born again Jews were the Holy Spirit enabled bodies reigning on earth. When Jesus stopped Paul from persecuting His born again body of Jews, He asked Paul a question, “why do you persecute me?” His Jewish body of humanity on earth lived for 70 years, in fulfillment of the sabbath rest that Adam would have entered dead. The millennial Jubilee was the target sabbatical for both Adam and Israel. They both arrived alive in the body of Christ. Eternal life was covenantally achieved by transferring Jesus’ life to His new covenant. Nobody in His new covenant ever dies. Do you believe this? Jesus asked a Jewish old covenant woman named Martha if she believed that everyone who believes in Him would live to the age. Life to the age was in the resurrected/regenerated/reborn body of the new covenant Christ. In His body both 40 and 70 years were fulfilled for all His chosen people.

John 11:23-27

YLT 23 Jesus saith to her, `Thy brother shall rise again.’ 24 Martha saith to him, `I have known that he will rise again, in the rising again in the last day;’ 25 Jesus said to her, `I am the rising again, and the life; he who is believing in me, even if he may die, shall live; 26 and every one who is living and believing in me shall not die—to the age; 27 believest thou this?’ she saith to him, `Yes, sir, I have believed that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming to the world.’

The following translation changes the singular to the plural. I guess this translator doesn’t see eternal life for the faith filled first century Jews who reached their singular age of 1000 alive. He must have future ages in mind, since millennia have passed since Jesus actually said this to the covenant transition Jews.

John 11:23-27

ECB 23 Yah Shua words to her, Your brother rises. 24 Martha words to him, I know he rises in the resurrection at the final day. 25
YAH SHUA, THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE
Yah Shua says to her, I AM the resurrection and the life: whoever trusts in me, though he dies, he still lives: 26 and whoever lives and trusts in me never dies to the eons [this supposed to be singular: to the eon]. Trust you this? 27 She words to him, Yes, Adonay: I trust that you are the Messiah – the Son of Elohim who comes to the cosmos.
